About Chaparral Boats

Chaparral Boats (originally Fiberglass Fabricators) was founded by William “Buck” Pegg in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1965. Only two years later in 1967, their facility was destroyed in a fire but the company rebuilt. In 1976 Chaparral had out-grown the rebuilt facility and was looking to expand.

Only a year later the Larsen Boats filed for bankruptcy and their manufacturing facility became available in Nashville, GA. Chaparral Boats purchased the facility and moved it’s headquarters to Nashville, GA and to this day is still using the same facility

Chaparral Boat Facts

Right after the move to Nashville, GA, Jim A. Lane joined the company as President and is still the acting president of the company today. And in 1986 Chaparral Boats was purchased by RPC Energy Services out of Atlanta, GA. In 2001 RPC spun off Marine Products Corporation which put Chaparral into an offering that included other boat companies as well, and Brunswick Boat Group purchased the offering placing Chaparral under the ownership of Brunswick to this day.
